Motivational Monday – Week #3

In Chapter 3 of The Unemployed Millionaire, I focus on beliefs and the three ways our beliefs are shaped. Believing what other people say about us and our abilities is one of the ways our beliefs can be shaped. This week’s Motivational Monday video is focused on a father-son team that refused to accept what ‘experts’ said would be impossible…

Dick and Rick Hoyt prove that if you choose not to accept the negative statements other people say about you and your abilities, anything is possible!

Let me know how you feel about this week’s Motivational Monday in the comments section below. I look forward to hearing from you and, as always, will personally read each and every one.

    Matt,
Thank you for that!!! Right now all I can say is WOW..My story isn’t that power full.
Dick is a real man, our society needs more men to step up to the plate and be real men and not just FATHERS. His strong belief and courage to do what ever his son needed is extraordinary.
Once again thank you for that, I needed that to remind me that I made the right decisions 7 years ago..

Thank you so much for the inspiration which I really needed today.Been exhausted trying to help my daughter, who is 26 years old,and has Downs Syndrome ,move into a place of her own. It’s a big deal for her and a bit scary for me too. So thank you again for helping me to stop feeling sorry for myself and just get on with the job in hand and be proud of her.
    Regards,

  • The Kelly’s

Matt, for over 20 years we carried our daughter to countless hospitals and medical facilities. We gave up everything as a family to help her live as full a life as possible. And on her second liver transplant her older sister gave up two thirds of her liver in an experimental surgery which gave her 6 more years.I think that the toughest thing that we ever did was listen to the doctor say that both of my girls could die that day. So, we really do know what this man feels for his son, we have lived it. God bless him, and may he have his son with him for many more years. The Kelly’s.

  • Euron Whiteley

This is very good. The first time i saw this i was really impressed at the love his father extended to him. I think fathers on a whole should view this. Its very touching and humanly. Once again the word ‘impossible’ is totally destroyed by the force within.

  • http://www.princessrachy.com Rachel Leigh

Matt, wow… thank you so so much for sharing this with us! I’m speechless…. thank you xxx

  • Owen Thomson

Yes, I actually received this link over a year ago and it is just as powerful.. I found one sceptic who was so bitter about his own disability and was critical about Rick and Dick and blamed God for all his failures.. I guess we are realy ALL the cripled person in the wheel chair! We al need someone to push us to the finish line. The diference is we can be made whole and be runners that help another cripple.

  • http://www.MattMorris.com Matt Morris

To the Kelley’s, thank you so much for sharing. I can’t imagine what that must be like but am grateful to have people like you with such enormous hearts. God bless you

    Thanks so much Matt!
    a quote from James G at eceti….
“Just a heads up there are many influences seen and unseen running amuck on the planet. Now is the time more than ever to focus on the higher mind, love, joy, bliss and cooperation. We will be tested to the max and some will fall into the ego projecting their own demons outside of themselves on the true light workers. The higher more advanced one is the more the demons will rear their ugly heads. If you are being targeted know you are in good company. It is not as if all the other masters that walked this plane were met with open arms. If you are judging, condemning others and creating separation rather than cooperation it is time to be brutally honest with yourself.

The alter ego is the door for other influences and it is always trying to take credit or climb on the backs of others to reach the top. We know in our heart of hearts what is true. No psychic or master can tell you what your own unique purpose is or become your own personal God connection. Self Mastery is mastering our own dark side as well as feeding the light side. The old Cherokee tale about two wolves fighting inside one is white and focused on love, joy, bliss and cooperation the other dark focused on selfishness, judgment, anger, separation, competition etc is being played out. The one that wins is the one you feed. If a large percentage of your thoughts are focused on fear, separation and againstness you are feeding the dark wolf. Some actually think they are doing Gods work while at the same time feeding the dark wolf and projecting their own darkness planting seeds of deception and ill will. Their chickens will come home to roost and all we have to do is hold the light, stay in our heart of hearts and know love is the ultimate power. Many speak of love yet weave a twisted tale with love being their motive. As I said the ego and those who serve the dark wolf are very tricky. They even have themselves fooled. Use the discernment of the heart, love, joy and bliss to guide you in the days to come.” Be well James Gilliland http://www.eceti.org

  • Donavon

Wow the love he shows for his child is so amazing. Thank you so much for opening our eyes. How awesome love is. The world would be a much better place if we all had that type of love for one another.

Matt you made my day! Thank you and let’s keep love for the impossible.

  • http://1984-sports.blogspot.com Desmond

I am speachless as well. At 66 this man is pushing his body to the limit for the love of his son. So I don’t want to hear anyone else use the word CAN’T. Imagine how many people probably told Mr. Hoyt that he couldn’t provide a happier life for his son. In the words of Jimmy V.. “Never, ever give up!!”

  • S.Menon

    Hi Matt

I saw this movie a year or so back. I cried then. And I cried this time, too. This is truly inspirational. I will be sharing it with others. I lost a child many years ago. Yet while he was with us, he taught us so much. So I admire the way this father shows his love for his son. Way to go

  • Christine

I cried…again. You are such an inspiration. Thank you. I am at a point in my life where I feel like a complete failure yet I find it impossible to give up and kill the dream inside of me. How do you get past that feeling of no worth? The song to this clip as well as the story reminded me of the reason why I keep trying. Thank you. I have bought your book and am on chapter 3 today! Just amazing! God bless you!!!!

    • http://www.MattMorris.com Matt Morris

Hi Christine, hang in there. Someone once told me – When you’re going through hell, don’t stop there – keep going until you get out! Be sure to go through chapter 3 thoroughly and read my story about choosing to look at my failures as successes. I failed so many times I felt the same way at one point. The key is to simply get up more times than you get knocked down. The failures make you stronger… but only if you don’t quit. God gave us all the power to create greatness. We were all created equal so double up on your faith and believe that He has a greater purpose for you. Keep me posted on your journey.
      Lots of love,
      Matt

    Hi Matt
As I watch your motivational moments I feel something deep within me just wanting to push past the pain and the setbacks and the rejection of negative people around me, those who just don’t see the ache in our hearts to let Jesus in and then to let Him out for others.
Thank you for your overcoming heart, filled with Jesus’ love.
    With gratitude
