Source: Based on Alexa.com Ranking Averages for September, October and November, 2009.

Alexa.com ranks all websites on the Internet… An Alexa rank of 1 would be the #1 most popular website, 2 would be the 2nd, etc. The criteria to be put on this list is simple… you must be a speaker AND an author with a published book. Let me know in the comments if you have any names that need to be added to the list!

Dozens and dozens of future Unemployed Millionaires have asked what the first step in achieving success is and here is what I tell them…

In order for our lives to change for the better, we must be willing to change and improve for the better. Personal growth and development take effort but are definitely worth it. Any person who has created financial success will tell you that they developed a rich mindset way before they achieved financial success.

I am no different! For years now, my new year’s resolution has been to read as much as possible and focus on my personal development DAILY.

My own commitment to personal development is the reason I am where I am today. It is a huge honor for me to be ranked among the top industry leaders and I definitely could not have done it without hours and hours of studying.

Follow through with your personal development for at least 30 minutes a day for the next 365 days and I can guarantee that your life will be dramatically different during the 2010 holiday season!

P.S. If you’d like to learn the strategies I used to go from homeless, $30,000 in debt, living out of my beat up Honda Civic and bathing in gas station bathrooms to a self-made millionaire by the age of 29, I tell it all in my new international bestselling book, The Unemployed Millionaire. • Hi Matt.
Congratulations on what you are doing after Success University. The List of the Top 40 Most Popular Speakers and Authors and the principles of success they advocate was really a valuable treasure for reference purposes.
    Thanks for all this.
    Harrison Mwandawiro. Nairobi Kenya.
  • Jackson M. Njage-Rwito
Matt: This is an iressive list of authors. That you are there is proof of your emergence as a compelling motivational leader. Great works for a fast consuming global society!

    Jackson
  • Hi Matt,

I'm not sure if Michael Gerber should be on your list or not. I know, his e-myth books have impacted my personal philosophy of business a great deal, helped me stay motivated, as well as helped me inspire my clients wanting to franchise (just had a coaching client set up and sell their first franchise this year). E-myth comes in at 70,939 so he'd be number 11 just behind you and Geoffry Gitomer.
  • Hi Matt

Great post as usual and I very much enjoy reading this as much as your other posts.

You really do post top quality.

    Mark McCulloch
  • Susan Ouma
    Hi Matt,
Congratulations, your book is really popular, hope to find it our bookshops here in kenya soon.
  • Excellent list and congrats on your high placement! :)
  • Great list.
    Where is Og Mandino?
He was one of the best story tellers and inspirational writers of our time.
I know a lot of today’s writers and speakers copied his style of mixing great storytelling and inspirational insight with success principles.
RIP Og. He will truly be missed.
    Claus Ranswill
  • Hey Claus, Great catch on Og... he's actually ranked in there as well according to Alexa. We'll get him posted!
    Thanks!
  • Matt,

I got your book about a month ago and I am enjoying it. I saw your list and their are many speakers that have not been that active in the last several years, but their are 3 that should be in the top 15. They are Larry Winget, James Malinchak and Marshal Sylver. I love your lists, but these 3 speakers and authors should be near the top in the next few months.

    Thanks,
    Don Carpenter
  • Congratulations Matt for making it to #8. I've been following your work. I've read your book all the way through and I'm reading it again for the second time. I'm on your website everyday to learn new things. You're truly an inspiration. Keep up the good work.
  • Hi Etieno,

Glad you are enjoying the book! Thanks!

    Matt
  • One more...Jay Abraham?!
  • IMPRESSIVE list! What about Alex Mandossian, Dr Rob Anthony, Eben Pegan?
  • Hello Matt,

Congratulations for making the list. I believe Dr. Felix Toran, should be kept an eye in coming year. He's a writer, speaker and lecturer, expert in the law of attraction. His new book a best seller in Spain and Latin America will be coming to the US in English. Http://www.felixtoran.com

    Thank you!
  • Congratulation to you on being high up on the list. I thought that Johnny Wimbrey might of had a spot on that list as well, he wrote books and does speaking and is having his on tv show. Keep up the good work.
  • Hi Kelvin,

Johnny isn't in the Top 40 just yet but we are definitely keeping our eye on him for the next update! Thanks for your support!
  • Hi Matt,

I'd like to see Ruben Gonzalez added to the list. Of all the DVDs I watched when enrolled with SU, his was the most impressive for me. Ruben really demonstrates what you can do if you build up your "power of belief".
  • Hi David,

Thank you for bringing up Ruben! We've updated the list to include him at #21!
  • Therese Kutscheid
Congrats Matt, fantastic to know that you are on the list, you are such asset to humanity. I am glad I bought you book. I did not finish reading it jet, but I enjoy it so fahr very much.
  • Roberta Jerram
my mistake - I see there are 4 women not 3!
  • Roberta Jerram
Thanks for sharing this list Matt... I was shocked (but not really surprised) that there are just 3 women on the list... which in reality means plenty of room for myself and other up and coming women authors and speakers to rise to the top! Mark my words... 10 years from now I bet this list will be more of a 50/50 female male split...
(can I ask, apart from speaker with a published book) what your alexa search criteria was?
  • Hey Roberta, I agree 100%. So the criteria is simple, personal development speakers with a book published from a major publisher. After that criteria, we simply rank based on web popularity. Looking forward to seeing which female speakers/authors come forward!
  • Claudio
I'm glad to know that your name is on that list. Congratulations you made it.
  • Great list, Matt, but it's important to remember that Alexa's rankings are based on it's toolbar users, which skews the numbers somewhat. Still, surprised not to see Stephen Pierce much higher on the list - I guess having numerous websites dilutes the traffic to any one site.
  • Brian Goodman
    What about Robert Allen?
Has helped thousands of people gain financial independance, has written a book and speaks all around the world.
Would have thought he would have made the top 40 somewhere.
  • Hi Brian,

Thank you very much for letting us know about Robert Allen... Check out #25!!
  • WOW Matt, #8....THAT'S NOT SURPRISING...you are s tremendous mentor and friend....
  • Hi Ned and Cheryl,

I haven't had a chance to meet you yet but I got to see you at Fast Start School last weekend. I wanted to thank you for your continued support and for being an incredible inspiration!
  • What a great list of speakers!

    Thanks for providing Matt!

    I didn't realize Gary Vaynerchuk placed 2nd - WOW!!

I met up with him in Toronto recently and we did a video together.

3 minutes of pure nuggets from Gary right here:

    Love how you built SU

Good luck with the book. Ash

  • JoAnne
