Can 32 seconds change your perspective about life?
I saw this VW commercial, read the tag line, and thought… YES!!!
“It’s not the miles, it’s how you live them”
I can’t think of a more PERFECT tag line for every single persons life that creates a better reason to look at the perspective you live your life from.
It makes no difference what your current circumstances are, the levels of success you’ve created for yourself in your life don’t matter, and no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been in this life, you and you alone ALWAYS have the power to choose how you life your miles.
Sometimes the road is bumpy, sometimes it’s smooth, sometimes it’s so fast you hardly even remember the journey, and sometimes it’s so slow you have an opportunity to see things in your life that you never knew were their.
That old cliche’ “Life is a journey, not a destination” comes up in this Motivational Monday and the key point is that YOU decide what that journey looks like.
It reminds me of a story one my friends told me about his wife.
They were flying somewhere and hit some choppy air when the plane suddenly dropped what felt like 200 feet in altitude.
Literally everyone was gripping their seat with so much force they all had white knuckles and people were screaming and in a state of panic.
But not my friends wife. The butterflies that drop created in her belly caused her to put her arms and and yell “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” very loud with a huge open mouthed smile on her face and eyes the size of dinner plates.
Once the plane stabled out, some people started chattering and talking about this “crazy” lady but most people just started laughing. After awhile, my friends could hear a few people saying things like, “That would be amazing to be able make that fun where 99% of people find the fear!”.
People were amazed that she could find a reason to laugh, smile, and have fun in a situation that injected most people with a rush of fear and panic.
And in reality, it is as simple as a shift in your perspective…
I probably would have been a bit freaked out personally, but the point is, you can ALWAYS find a reason to laugh, you can always find a reason to smile, you can always inspire others with a positive outlook, and you can determine the quality of the miles of your life simply by your attitude and perspectives, regardless of the circumstances.
Circumstances in life change all the time and if you let your circumstances dictate your attitude or outlook, you’ll never get the most out of every mile so to speak.
We’re all going to end up in the same place and no one gets out of life alive.
So today, choose to smile, choose to laugh, choose to love, and choose enjoy the ride so much that even when it’s scary, you can throw your hands up with a big smile on your face and say… “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!” 🙂
