Source: Based on Alexa.com Ranking Averages for August, September and
October, 2009.

Alexa.com ranks all websites on the Internet… An Alexa rank of 1 would be the #1 most popular website, 2 would be the 2nd, etc. The criteria to be put on this list is simple… you must be a speaker AND an author with a published book. Let us know in the comments below if you have any names that need to be added to the list!

I not only developed this report to benefit my continuing personal development, but also to give you, the future unemployed millionaires, an overview of how to begin the biggest and most important investment you will ever make – which is the investment you make in yourself.

Shortly after I turned twenty-one years old, I hit rock bottom and made the decision to change my life. An imperative piece of the strategy I used to become an unemployed millionaire was my massive commitment to personal development studying from many of the speakers listed above. The fact that my website is now ranked among the best speakers in the world is humbling to say the least and proof that the number one overriding principle of success is one’s ability to commit to constant and never-ending improvement through personal development.

I strongly encourage you to devote a minimum of 30 minutes a day, every day, to your own daily improvement.  If you follow through with daily personal development, I can guarantee that your life will be dramatically different one year from now.

If you’d like to learn the strategies I used to go from homeless, $30,000 in debt, living out of my beat up Honda Civic and bathing in gas station bathrooms to a self-made millionaire by the age of 29, I tell it all in my new international bestselling book, The Unemployed Millionaire. • Hi Matt,
great list. I would love to see Dr John Demartini on that list. I have seen many of the above speakers and either attended their courses or read their books and my favourite is still Dr Demartini.
    Have a great day
    Regards

  • Dear Matt,

    What about T. Harv Eker?
  • Hi Yoav, He's not quite on the list. He was on there and we forgot a couple that we added that pushed him off. I was surprised that he wasn't more popular online considering his trainings are amazing and really big compared to other speakers
  • GREAT stuff on here!

I have to stop being the first to comment so I can go through and see all of the great back-and-forth dialogue.

I appreciate everyone's contributions...great value! (and Matt - thank you for reminding me to add "Triggers" to my Amazon wish list)
    :)
  • Sure thing Bro. I got to hang out with Joe Sugarman last week. He drove me to the airport actually. Very cool guy
  • Dear Matt

Thank you very much for sending my audio CD, You Got the Power! to more than 180 countries in September 2008. I look forward to making the top 30 list soon.

    Dear Matt
Stephen is correct in wanting two lists but I found that God shows you very qickly through his Spirit that some speakers are not for you.
    Go matt
    Philippus
  • Hey Stephen,

No need to apologize for your openness. In fact, I'm sure there may be others who may want to comment based on your views.

I was actually talking with a couple speakers last week about the whole "you are God" philosophy and how violently opposed so many people are towards it.

While I disagree with the "you are God" belief, I do believe God gives us the power to shape our destiny.

Would love to hear thoughts from others...

  • Hi Matt

Greetings from New Zealand :) I've heard of, read some of, and listened to quite a few of those on your list, but can't help feeling this is pretty much a benefit for US-based folk. The other 94% of us on the planet don't get a look in.

I mention this because although there are many truly inspired and inspiring people listed, there's way too may who tread the path of pseudo-spirituality and whose popularity, aka Alexa ranking, is based on their promotion of teachings that are very much at odds with your country's founding fathers, their Christian beliefs, and their priorities.

Self-help is fine so long as we acknowledge the God who created us, and to whom we give glory and honour. Self-help which exalts the individual to a place of self-centred glory and so-called 'growth' and self-actualisation is more than a turn off - it is a denial of the Gospel truths that 'Without God I can do nothing,' and " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." He is the centre, not us.

And that is Jesus Christ, not some mystical 'higher power', not some 'ascended master', and not some 'infinite intelligence' that I can manipulate at will.

Not some 'power' that will give me all I want to attract and all I can imagine. That is just plain greed and selfishness, and is becoming the staple hybred diet in so many countries, mine included.

Sorry to be so direct, but it would be beter to have two lists, one for those who adhere to and openly acknowledge and promote the Christian virtues of modesty, sobriety, moderation, service and humility, and one list for the rest.

I'm sure there would still be plenty on the first list, but I suggest it would have more substance and quality than the second, for one's ability to influence is fundamentally different from the means and motive by which it is done. What else is hypnotic manipulation about?

I apologise for my bluntness, but enough is enough.

    Yours sincerely

    Stephen
  • Julia
Good list, but I am very surprised to only see a few women. There are amazing women leaders currently and emerging in the self-growth field. I have a feeling that it is going to shift gears in the next few years as the world continues to embrace a more feminine approach (human connection, creativity, etc.) to business and creating a fulfilling life.
  • Hey John,

If you know of any non-Americans that have high popularity, we'd love to see if they are in the top 30... We reasearched a lot but couldn't find any in the top 30 - let us know!
  • Hi Clare,
Dr. Demartini would definitely be near the top of the list. There are some trainers like Dr. Ray Blanchard who would be one of my favorites too - he is CRAZY good - www.rayblanchard.com
Even some lesser known authors like Tolly Burkan who trained Tony Robbins how to firewalk. He wrote Extreme Spirituality and Dying to Live which are awesome
  • Hi Ed,
I like to go deep in one particular subject at a time... so if I'm studying persuasion I'd read Influence by Cialdini, then Triggers by Joe Sugarman, then The Ultimate Sales Letter by Dan Kennedy. Get immersed in one subject, then move on to another.
  • Hi Dr. Brian,
Chris is fantastic! I love his keynote where he talks about his child asking for a bike... Daddy, can I have a bike, can I, can I, can I - hilarious!
His Alexa rank is just over 1,000,000 so based on web popularity he's not quite on the list.
  • Dr. Brian McElfish
All of these speakers are wonderful. I would also like to add one more, Chris Widener. I saw him recently and have read a number of his books, short, simple to understand and very sweet. Plus what an amazing and dynamic man to watch. Highly recommended!!
  • Tina Tara
Hi Matt, I want to thank you for writing such a fantastic book "The Unemployed Millionaire". Definitley filled with great tips and useful advice. It was actually a really fun read!
  • hey matt!

i thing putting up the list of some of the great speakers was a fabulous idea! iv briefly browsed through two and among them my favourite was brian tracy!im even downloading his free book on goals this minute!!
  • Great list Matt! Thanks for sharing! If this is a website popularity based list, who else would make your personal favourite list Matt?
  • Bimal Maharaj
    Hi Matt

It is thanks to you and the S.U team, that I have heard of, watched and listened to material from many of the top 30 speakers and authors. It has made my life so much better in all areas.

    I cannot thank you enough!

Can't wait to meet you in person for the first time in Durban, South Africa on the 6th of December.

    Warm Regards
    Bimal
  • Ed Bannerman
    Hi Matt
Thanks for staying with your quest to help others in personal development.
All the people mentioned are known for different things! Would it be too much to ask that you extend the list indicating their areas of speciality ? With so many to choose from and limited hours in a day how did you structure your personal development study to get the most out of the material from these people ?
  • Glenn Silvanie
Stephen Pierce is my man, he inspire me because of his simplicity even though he's a multi millionaire, he speaks with energy. you can not help but love the man. so he's my guy
  • Alex Munyasya
Hey Matt. Ur spot on. Brian Tracy is absolutely awesome! I have read his book 'Be A Sales Superstar' and the results are amazing. I listen to his audio 'Maximum Selling Strategies' Just wish He was number #1.
  • Rosemary Kahiga
Thanks Matt for availing this list to me. Am learning the hard way to become a motivational speaker and having access to this list is one of the greatest assets am holding in my hands right now. Bless you
  • Hi Samuel, Jack is a fantastic trainer as well and has transformed many through his workshops and books. His Alexa rank is 749,291 so he's not quite on the list yet.
  • Hey Kamsani,
Jerry is definitely one of the greatest. His Alexa rank is 462,323 so he actually DOES belong on the list... how did we miss Jerry? I'm embarrassed - Jerry's a great friend and lives here in Dallas. Shhhh don't tell him :) Amanda, can you add him please?
    Thanks Kamsani!
  • Hi Matt and Kamsani,

My apologies for the oversight! I updated the list and hope you can forgive me! :) Please feel free to let me know of any additional changes!
  • Hi Matt,
What about "The Rhino". He is my inspiration ever since I started with Success University. I still listen to the first CD which I received from SU regarding cows and rhinos. Go,go,go...
  • timo
I love Brian Tracy. His message is easy, clear and focus!
  • John Harmer
    Matt

I have heard of all of these speakers, have read the books written by some. I respect them all for their contribution to our global knowledge base. I listen to some of them in my car.

Yet I do have one concern. They seem to be all Americans. I respect your national loyalty, naturally But where are the speakers from other countries? Surely other countries have them, too? UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand,South America, Asia?

    Cheers

    John
  • Samuel Sim
    Hi Matt,

I think Jack Zufelt should be on the list too. Definitely one of the big players in the industry... His book "The DNA Of Success" really opened up my mind to the real truth to success.

    All Success,

    -Sam
  • Hi Phyllis, Marci and Janet are both amazing. Janet is a great friend of mine... this list is based on popularity according to Alexa.com and their statistics. If the list were based on my favorites, it would be in a very different order ;)
    All the best,

    Matt
  • Matt,

I was listening to your audio program today as I was traveling in my car and thought to myself, "I wonder what personal motivators Matt listens to (other than Tony Robbins)" and bam! Twenty minutes later I saw this new post pop up. Couldn't ask for better timing. Thanks for making it easy for me to dedicate time to my personal development every day. You rock!
  • Where's Marci Shimoff or Janet Attwood? Both of those women created many of the careers on that list - AND developed their own. As good as that list is, I think you missed a couple of very powerful women. Lynne Twist - is another one.
  • The names on this list include some of my favorite mentors, and they all make it so easy for us to "pick their brains". Thanks for this list! I'm looking forward to making some new friends based on your research.

  • Hi Matt,

A fascinating list of personal development experts and speakers. Although I don't follow all of them it was interesting for me to note that I'm familiar with the work of nearly all these experts.

For instance, I was just listening to an interview with Tony Robbins today and yesterday I was listening to a presentation by Brian Tracy.

I agree with you on the importance of continual personal development. The world is moving on at such a rapid pace that those who are not diligent in updating their skills and expanding their mind will simply be left behind.

    Best wishes

    Nickolove
  • Thank you for this wonderful list of incredible people, Matt!

I've been reading personal development and self-help books for years. I'm not familiar with all of those named here, but those I am familiar with, I enjoy immensely and have learned so much from them.

Denis Waitley's "Seeds of Greatness" was one of the first and the latest is Wayne Dyer's "Inspiration, Your Ultimate Calling."

My greatest desire is to inspire others as you and these people have inspired me.

"... Making A Difference allows our hearts to be opened with Love & Gratitude ... PEACE within ourselves and for others ensues. All the good things in the world happens because someone chose to Make A Difference."~Terry Gorley~

    Sincerely,
    Terry
  • Hi Matt, I've been following you since SU days. Your list is great and right on the money. On my website EntrepreneurMarketingForum.com I've got free book summaries of many of the authors on your list. If you or any of my fellow readers and business owners would like. you can have them for free. :)
  • Matt - I have to thank you for introducing me to Tony Robbins!

I first established a VERY strong base in personal development through Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, and Denis Waitley. (and a little Robert Kiyosaki)

I have to say that Tony Robbins' methods & technologies have had the most dramatic impact on my life.

I've also listened to your "7 Secrets To 7 Figures" CD over 50 times...which really helped engrave the essentials of properly growing a network marketing team.

Thanks for all you do Matt!
