80 Top Network Marketing Companies: February 2010

My list of the most popular network marketing companies is back and bigger than before! I had my team increase our previous list of 50 network marketing companies to include 80 of today’s most popular network marketing companies for February 2010.

In my December 2009 edition of Most Popular Network Marketing Companies, I mentioned that I would share a few criterion to consider when you or anyone you know is considering a new network marketing opportunity. My recommendations are below the list!

The criteria for making the list remains the same: each network marketing company on the list has been in business for 3+ years (no fly-by-night companies) and is well known online (based on Alexa.com’s website traffic rankings)…

What To Consider Before Joining a Network Marketing Company…

Products. Look for the product that gets you most excited and that’s the best product for you. The key to success in network marketing comes from keeping yourself excited and bought-in psychologically to the product you’re selling.

Leadership. I once walked away from a six-figure income solely because I lost faith in the company’s leadership. A foundation of integrity is the bedrock of success for any network marketing company. When you promote a company, that company’s reputation and integrity will be a direct reflection of your reputation and integrity.

Sales and Marketing Programs. Make absolutely sure the company you are considering has a strong sales and marketing program in place. That way, all you and your organization will have to do is use the tools (i.e. CDs, DVDs, brochures, magazines, web sites, etc.)  to do the presenting for you.

Mentorship. Is there someone in the company with a track record of success in building his or her income who is also able to assist others in creating success as well? Your chances of success will sky rocket if you can work with someone who has experienced success and wants to help you become successful. Most importantly, your mentor should be someone you trust and believe in.

Timing. Timing is not going to make or break your success but it’s something to consider. I’ll share more on timing following the next list of top network marketing companies.

I hope you enjoyed this month’s list of the top network marketing companies! If we left your company off (and they match the criteria I previously listed), please let me know in the comments section below.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for a great list! I believe Nu Skin had done incredibly well and outperformed many other mlm companies. Stock share had gone up %123 in one year! Nu Skin had been all over the news lately: Fox, NBC and business magazines such as Forbes, Motely Fool, Zacks and Investor's Business Daily.

You can do more than $40,000/mo in 3 years!!! Great training system and excelling successful team to work with.

Hi Matt! Thank you for this list...it's just more proof that avon is where it's at!
#1 AVON The company for women & a few good men!
this is the company that puts mascara on lashes and
food on tables, that fights wrinkles with one hand and Breast
Cancer with the other. That knows the value of a perfect lip , but
still opens its mouth and speaks out against Domestic Violence
and for women’s financial independence . This is the company
that not only brings beauty to doors, but also opens them. The
company that supports 6 million Representatives in over 100
countries. This is Avon . The company, that for 125 years, has stood
for beauty, innovation , optismism and above all for women.

I have been with avon for over 6 1/2 hrs & absolutly love being my own boss, I reached Senior Executive Unit Leader in just 4 years & make over $1400 every 2 wks.
I believe everyone should give our opportunity a try...It can work for you too!
  • barbavery
AVON-should be #1 for a good reason..........I have been involved in network marketing for over 20 years and too old to be taken by the hype. I joined this company less than 2 years ago, of whom I SHOULD have joined in the beginning, 20 years ago, but got an education, instead, as to what to look for in a direct marketing company. I got tired of wrangling my friends and new aquaintances with hype of big MONEY sign ups, big bundles of products that I had no hope to ever "retail" at retail. Money was made by recruiting and self consumption of over priced stuff on autoship.
Here I was, 2yrs ago, for $20 and no further product purchases required, I started my Avon business. I could retail $.99 deoderants at a 50% profit, as well as SSS and shampoo. If 700K reps-out of 750K-- ONLY retail Avon-that is make 20-50% commission then products are priced competively within the REAL MARKET (Walmart). They take 100% returns and do not product load. 50K of the reps do the leadership side of the business. This says a lot!
This was the vehicle I could succeed in. A 125 year old company, whose "ground floor" was long over. At almost 50, I did not want to have to watch this collapse b/c of dunderheads at the helm.
I decide to track to SEUL (their top leadership level) and retail an amount I could handle. I also own 2 retail franchises with employees and leases. All AVON training was had online and FREE. I was busy- this fit into my lifestyle.
My first year I made SEUL, and $506K in unit sales, year 2 we hit $2.3 MILLION. We are currently helping as many downline realize a great income stream with good-ol' Avon. Avon is a fair, excellent, sound company and for $20 ($10 face sign up or $20 with shipping online sign up) you are not earning money off recruiting UNTIL you help them become successful. (Just like Zig Ziglar said to do.)
Avon is a great company for both men and women to be successful in WITHOUT all the typical MLM crap that SOME companies put out there to wreck it for the rest of us enjoying the network marketing comcept.
....and no, I have no one from my old businesses in my Avon business-it was all built shiney and new.
Do your homework when choosing a company and upline- you will be putting in a lot of time and effort to something you will be married to hopefully forever.
Just some advice from someone who has been there-

    Hey Matt,

Met you in Dallas a couple of times. I see that things continue to go very well for you. I have a nomination for next years list. Waiora International is doing quite well and I believe would score high, even in this existing list.

    aNY IDEA About this company?
  • www.quest.net should be no. 10 on your list. 16,552. They're hosting a Major even this May in Malaysia where 8000 plus Independant Representatives from 150 countries plus will be attending.
  • Is your list only american companies or others as well?
  • Rob
Yes, I agree with your list of things to consider. An interesting list.
  • Missed Success Uni so much I jumped onto Polaris Media Group, fantastic Personal development (122,332 Alexa) around 59 ?

Despit the UK promises, WV never panned out for me.

    Hi Matt,
What does the "Alexa" column on the right represent?

    Thank You
  • Go Beachbody!!
  • Glad to see Creative Memories on the list! I've been with the company for over 11 years and still love it!
  • Wow, looks like a bunch of OTHER Beachbody Coaches heard about this post too! I'll be real curious to see how Alexa trends Team Beachbody especially as the compnay continues to expand its reach through their TV infomercials and passionate people who want to see lives changed through fitness! How exciting!
  • Ben Bretz
I think that it is interesting that Arbonne is #30 on your list after filing chapter 13 last month.
Also, have you done any rankings of newer companies?
  • Hey Ben,

Do you know what's going on w/ Arbonne. I know they filed bankruptcy but they seem to still be in business. Sometimes companies go through bankruptcy and still stay around... although pretty tough to do as a NWM company. Not sure what's going on.

    Thanks!

    Matt
  • Erin
    Hi Matt,
I am an Arbonne Consultant and here is the latest:

"We are pleased to report that our financial restructuring is almost complete. On February 22, 2010, the judge overseeing our Chapter 11 proceedings confirmed our Plan of Reorganization, and, as a result, we will emerge from this process very shortly and in advance of NTC 2010, with the completion of all routine closing conditions."

  • Thanks for the post! I'm honored to be a Coach with Team Beachbody! WooHoo :)
  • Adrienne
    Matt,
Is Medifast on the list because of it's wholly owned subsidiary - Take Shape for Life? I thought Medifast by itself was simply a direct marketing company...
  • Amanda, can you look into this please.

    Thanks Adrienne!
  • Thanks for the list and I think your criteria for choosing a network marketing company to work with are spot on.
  • Woo Hoo! Team Beachbody has only been around for 3 years and is already number 6! As a founder, I am proud to help people get physically AND financially fit! Thanks for compiling your list, Matt. I look forward to reading your book!
  • John Laster
Just curious about your listing of VMDirect and Helloworld. VMDirect basically fell apart about 2 years ago with most all of the top leadership going to other companies..and Helloworld never was a Network Marketing Opportunity. It was the Social Network VideoMail service for VMDirect.

Therefore I find your selections a bit dubious...
  • Hey Amanda, it looks like we may need to take helloworld off the list. Can you do so - that seems to just be the product side of VM Direct.

VM Direct, even if a lot of the leadership has left, is still on the list according to their Alexa ranking.

    Thanks for the feedback!
  • It is so nice to see you have placed Team Beachbody at number 6. We all know number 1 is coming soon. Beachbody has an awesome system in place and what most people do not know is they spend 100 million on infomercial advertising and then give the customers to qualified coaches. Imagine what this would do for your business and your downlines business. What other company out there hands you customers to market to??
  • I am so glad to see that Team Beach Body has risen so high so quickly. This company is founded on SOLID fitness products that work! No easy fix no Ab machine! Just hard work and rewards for those that can embrace the fantastic opportunity. In three years I was able to quit my full time job to pursue this company and my passion for helping others!
  • Hello Matt, this is my first time to your site, one of my facebook friends posted a link to this blog.

I see that others have asked your opinion about their companies and would like to do the same. My company is Called Zurvita and we are two years old this month.

Zurvita is a leading edge marketing company leveraging the power of infomercials, word of mouth advertising and the Internet. We market essential services like energy (in 8 states), telecom, wireless and business to business solutions like advertising.

    Thanks for you feedback

  • So happy to see that the greatest team in the world--Team BEACHBODY--made the list! Inspiring others to get fit and healthy, reversing the trend of obesity and disease in the world is truly our mission and I'm proud to be a coach for Beachbody that is able to give back to people worldwide!

Mark my words: Beachbody will take that #1 spot! :-)
  • I've been a Coach with Team Beachbody since BEFORE they launches the MLM opportunity. The beauty behind an opportunity like this is that the products and programs they produce and distribute make for life changing experiences. This company couldn't have risen through the ranks so quickly without a successful and happy customer base. I'm proud to be a Founding Coach and proud to be listed among such popular, well known and long-establised companies. We're #6 but rising. Thanks for the props!
  • I never intended to get involved with the MLM side of Team Beachbody as I was addicted to the products first. Its the only business I've ever been involved in where people approach you to know what your doing to get in shape.
  • Good to see that Team Beachbody ranking in the top 10. With such brand name recognition by Beachbody through their fitness TV infomercials, it's exciting to be a part of such a life changing company as a Independent Distributor. Helping people improve their health and fitness through exercise and nutrition!

I fully expect in future editions that Team Beachbody will rank #1 on this list!
  • Hi Matt!
I am a Coach with Team Beachbody, and Blake Warrington is my Founding Coach! What a wonderful resource! Thank you so much! It is also lovely to see the criteria in which this list was compiled. I know that Team Beachbody has a wonderful training system, and I am so proud that our company is increasing the health across the United States, AND spreading the wealth!

I look forward to reading your book as well!
    Thanks again,
    Karla Reese
  • Hi, Matt! It was very interesting to read this list -- so many companies, some I have heard of and some not. Seems pretty heavy on the vitamins and juice! I'd love to know what you think of LifePath Unlimited. As a life coach, I'm very impressed with the products, and they really do seem to have a good system in place. In my understanding it is NOT a 2-up, but I'm no expert in comp plans.

    Thanks for the great resource!
  • Hi Lynn,

I don't know much about LifePath so I can't say.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Matt
  • Hi Matt. Just started reading your book. Enjoying it so much. Started in November with the launch of the Trump Network. I am so pleased to see Ideal Health on the list. I'm sure you know, but we are now with Donald Trump and have changed names to the Trump Network.
  • Hi Matt,

I am a Founding Coach with Team Beachbody and have been with them since they launched. Thank you for compiling the list and I am looking forward to reading your book. While not critical, Beachbody is spelled as one word like the parent company.

    Blake Warrington
  • Nice list, my company did not make it just goes to show that more work has to be done. Any way, I am looking forward to reading your book Matt, wish I had known about it earlier I would have picked it up its on my list for next week.
  • Much thanks Michelle! Let me know how you enjoy the book!
  • It was great to see SendOutCards on the list. SendOutCards is actually the coolest thing I have ever done. I wanted to become a better friend and I am.
  • Uthman Saeed Bashir
    Hi Matt,

Great list. Surely WV seems to be making it very first to No. 1. See u at the top.
  • Hi Matt thanks for the long list of companies. Very informative. There is also a very good equivalent of Prepaid legal in South Africa called Multisure www.multisure.co.za/00-07704
This is a very inexpensive biz and very good

    Ramesh
  • Hi Matt - You once again come outwith a great list of companies. I was wondering if you have heard about LGN Prosperity? It sounds like a winning company in Personal Development and Travel.
Also, have you ever heard of Prosperity Allience? This is a company that was created by Marshal Sylver. What do you think? Thanks for all of what you do for Network Marketing.
  • LGN Prosperity is a 2x2 cycler matrix which has never lasted. Typically a 2x2 is a fly by night operation. If anyone has EVER heard of a 2x2 cycler that's ever made it more than 5-10 years, please let us know!

I'm friends with Marshall and know about his company. Marshall is one of the best of the best. Probably THE best closer from stage. His program is not a network marketing company but more of an affiliate program but with a very strong income potential.
  • Matt,

I love Network Marketing. I have owned several Franchises. What I appreciate about the Franchise Model is the systems. When you find a Direct Sales business that offers a system. It just rocks! That's why I chose, Peoplesway over my brick and mortar business.
  • edet umoh
Matt, Great job. It's something different the scams from the real MLM companies.
  • Matt, check this out about the MLM industry and tell me what you think. Also, look into his Network Marketing Success Formula and you cna talk to him by phone in Virginia. Thanks, Ken Chin
  • I would have thought TEam National would be Number One Thay Are Tops in all categories
  • hello from Germany ;-)

hey, you left LIFE PLUS INTERNATIONAL off :-( www.lifeplus.com is an absolutely scandalfree global networking factory with roots back to 1936.

    take care.

    Manfred
  • Hi Manfred,

Yep, Life Plus looks like they come in at #77. Thanks!

Amanda, can you add them to the list please.
  • Additionally, the www.beachbody.com website for Team Beachbody has an Alexa ranking of 8,724 :)
  • This site is not the mlm side but where they market goods to consumers directly so we've left it off the list.
  • Matt-Thank you for the awesome value you put out by putting together this list (along with some help from your wonderful assistant, Amanda)! There is one additional factor that I recommend people consider that I think at times falls through the cracks, and that is compensation plan. Unlike some people I've found online, I find myself to be moderate in this regard. I don't believe any comp plan is evil, but I do believe that each one takes advantage of a certain skill set that each prospect may or may not possess. I'm interested to hear what your thoughts are?
  • Hi Jamie,

Since compensation is the primary reason why we're involved in promoting the company's products, I think the comp plan is essential. There are many different variations and I can argue both sides of just about any plan. There are 100 pennies in every dollar so the thing to look at is the payout percentage and how the money is distributed. If a company pays out too little of a percentage, it's obviously bad for the rep. But on the other side, if the company pays out TOO much, it's bad for the rep as well because the company most likely won't be in business for long. Companies that boast a 70-75% payout or more, from my experience, will typically fail. Anything more than a 60-65% payout makes it very difficult for the company to make enough money to stay in business. If a company has a 10% cost of goods, 50-55% is about right. If they have a lower cost of goods, then a company might be able to afford 60-65% but that's pushing it.
Getting into the different types of plans is a much longer letter so I'll save that for another post... or probably my next book :)
  • Hi Matt - Amazing to see it laid out and ranked, I have been with Herbalife since the early days of the charismatic Mark Hughes.. Here's the thing I have just pedalled along without really getting anywhere - I would appreciate if you could show me how to get back to signing 27 distributors a month and having a real income from a product that Itruly believe in
  • I just started in worldventures and look forward to meeting everyone in pheonix!!!
  • Owen Thomson
I notice two things on this list!
First is in the leadership, you mentioned that honesty and integrity was essential for you to have confidence in the company.. I dropped Herbalife because they were, in my opinion, not transparent when I put questions to them and was given unsatisfactory answers..
Second I notice that several MLM companies are not on the list.. although they say they are not mlm companies.. if you examine them they are MLM these include Canadian Diamonds, Club Freedom, Liberty League International.. they seem to me to be scams... even though some people are doing very well with them they still have a big failure rate like all MLM companies!
Success in all or any of these really depends on the person who is in it.. selling is not for everyone.
  • Hi Owen,

Yes, we've left the Aussie 2 Up programs off the list since they're really more direct sales than mlm and in many cases border on the illegal as far as income claims by reps and guarantee's of incomes. There are legitimate 2 up companies, we just keep them off this list.
  • Hi Matt

I'm aboiut to sign up with Trivani but don't see them on your list. They sponsor hungry children around the world and claim to sell non-toxic products. Any tips before I sign on the dotted line?
    Thanks
    Jean
  • Hi Jean,

Haven't heard anything negative or positive about Trivani. If it's something you can get truly passionate about, then that's a pretty strong reason to get started. Personally, I love the cause driven marketing approach. If they're sincere about their program, then it is definitely commendable.

    Wishing you all the best!

    Matt
  • Once again, Matt you are great, I am not into network marketing yet, but I am considering it very seriously now.

    Regards

We love World Ventures - not only it's great products in helping people travel at prices they can afford and the business side is marvelous also. But, my top part of the list (and it's right along with the above) is the building of people. I have never been involved with a company that cared about people more. There isn't a phone call, meeting (of various types) that I don't come away a better person. Thanks, World Ventures, you really rock!
  • Matt, Thanks for putting that list together. As far as qualities to look for when joining a company; You have 5 up there. They are ALL equally important. Like having a set of numbers to a combination lock. You could have 4 out of 5 numbers and guess what? You don't get to unlock the vault of your success with that company. So yes, all are important. Most MLM /Network Marketing companies don't teach their people to market on the internet. The biggest edge people can have if they don't have a large data base of folks or influence is to "recruit up" and to turn to the internet as added rocket fuel to their business. There is Success in Speed. The old school methods DO work. I have many friends in this industry that are 5 figure, multiple 5 figure and 6 figure a month earners. And with new folks easily swayed with the glitter of "Pre-Launch" and the grass is greener over there they need every edge to see results a.s.a.p.. For the successful like you and I we understand the process, however new folks don't.
So being able to MARKET on the interned is the edge you need. And STILL let the company tools do the presenting.
    Thanks so much.

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I am in the beginning process of learning...

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for taking the time to compile the list.

BTW, today, Feb. 13, 2010, I checked the company I'm with, TriVita, and their overall rating is 47,569. That would put them in between #26 Ameriplan and #27 Agel on your list.

TriVita is a 10 year old company (has been online since April 16, 1999).

    Thanks for the update.

    Peace,
    Yvonne Hackworth
  • Hi Yvonne,

Thank you very much for letting us know about TriVita! We're updating the list to include them right now!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hi Matt,

I've been waiting for this list and thanks for making it. Sure WorldVentures is gaining momentum.

    Shalom
  • You advise: "Make absolutely sure the company you are considering has a strong sales and marketing program in place"...

Trouble is... few if any do. Sure, they'll have the "tools" i.e. CD's, websites, DVD's, brochures, etc. that you list, but it takes more than that!

It takes a MARKETING SYSTEM... and companies are not in the "system business" they're in the "product" business.

Instead... pick your company, THEN, look for a team within that company that's designed an effective marketing system - and join them.

If you're already with a company/team that doesn't have a system, then... get together with your downline/upline and hire a group to design one for you. You don't want to have to chase after prospects!
  • Hi Matt, PrePaid Legal is the best and has stood the test of time. Daily Pay and lowest monthly qualifier. Also I did not see the Life Force Company? Body Balance has been around for over 22 years! Geat Company
  • Hi Derrick,

Thanks for taking the time to mention Body Balance and the Life Force Company. Their Alexa.com rankings for the past three months are 3,211,632 and 908,228 (respectively); therefore, they do not qualify for this list. We will keep an eye out for future rankings though!

    Have a great weekend!

  • #19 is an AMAZING company that everyone can and SHOULD use. You can use it personally OR professionally you should 'remember your customers' b'days and SOC makes it so easy to stay on the top of the mind. It's called 'appreciation marketing!'

  • I love a few of Mary Kay products and their philosophy, awsome place for women, you will meet fantastic women who will totally support you !
    Bobbie
  • Mary Kay is a great company, but look out Team Beachbody is up in coming. Beachbody has been around for 10 years but the Network marketing part of the business is only 2 years old. Still ground floor! Let's see what happens in a year.
