Law of Associations
There’s a saying that goes, “If you hang out with 9 broke friends, guess what? You’re the tenth!”
It’s kind of comical but it’s also something I’ve found to be very true in my life.
When I look back to the points in my life where I was not succeeding to level I wanted to succeed at, I can easily see that my associations were not with very successful people. They’re not bad people in any way, they were just pretty common men, just like I was common at that time.
Because guess what? The law of associations states that common men olive other common men because they justify each others averages. And so if you want to achieve something really great, something uncommon, you need to change your associations.
You need to figure out how to be around people that already have great associations and are progressing in life, who are going forward, who are ambitious.
If you’re the smartest person in your group, you need to change your group! Or in other words, change your associations.
You’ve got to become very conscious about surrounding yourself and creating associations with other people who are going to make you better!
People who will push your limits, stretch you, make your mind expand, etc.
Those are the kind of associations you need to create.
So how do you change and expand your associations?
Really, you just seek them out. They don’t have to be multimillionaires. They just need to be ambitious, supportive, and headed in the direction and you both need to be looking at how you can be of service to multimillionaire mentors. Then, you just show up and be of service and trust me, they’ll notice people like you because so many people won’t do that.
If you have people in your life who are not empowering you, you need to be conscious of that. I personally chose to cut all ties myself but I’m not saying disassociate yourself from your friends, just be aware of what your friends are adding to your life.
And realize that there is a price you will pay by hanging around people who are not of the same mindset you are.
Change your associations and you change your life!
