I just wanted to write a quick note today talking about gratitude and evidence. Many people work hard to create a better life for themselves and their loved ones but fall just short of the mark on achieving that life. And it’s funny because it kind of works backwards.
When we first get going, there seemingly isn’t a lot of evidence staring us in the face that we are successful. There doesn’t really appear to be a whole bunch to be grateful for. And it requires creating a MASSIVE amount of faith and belief that evidence of those things you want will show up for you IF you keep at it, IF you keep moving forward no matter what, and IF you stay focused on the prize.
But after you achieve a lot of the things that define success to you, the evidence is EVERYWHERE and there is so much in your life to be grateful for you could write a short book on it!
And if you were able to step out of your current life, transplant yourself back into your life BEFORE you created the success, and show your old self the best is yet to come, what do you think that would do for you right now?
If a future version of you who had already created all the things you are striving to create right now showed up and told you all about how awesome it is and about all the achievements you’ve made, would that inspire you or scare you?
I think about this today as I just released my 7th book in “The Art and Science of Success” series which is quickly on it’s way to best seller status and I thought, “Man… If this me would have showed up in my car when I was living in my car and showed me my life today, I wonder how I would have received it?”
Because along the journey I’ve developed skills, mindsets, wisdom, experience, confidence, and belief I didn’t have back then. But I hear people talk about how they would love to just “skip” the work part and get to the success part all the time and it makes me wonder if they could even handle it WITHOUT going through the journey that forges the strength needed to continue moving forward.
If today’s me visited the me from the past and said, “Hey Matt, on Dec 6th 2012 you’re going to release the 7th book in your Art and Science of Success series and guess what? It’s going to be a best seller just like the previous 6!” I’m not even sure I would’ve believed it back then because the evidence pointed to me not being successful…
But today the evidence is everywhere and of course I believe it because it’s real! Just something to think about today 🙂
