All I can say about this is…
WOW!
I’ve coached hundreds if not thousands of people to higher levels of success. All of them had to overcome their own fear.
Some were afraid of failing, others were afraid of actually succeeding, others were afraid of criticism, others afraid of being judged, and others were afraid of the unknown nature of it all but the fact remains the same for ALL of us!
We ALL deal with fear when we put it all on the line. When we put ourselves out there to the world and yell, “Hey world! Here I am! These are MY dreams!” for everyone to see.
Some people use fear as an excuse, others just can’t get past it.
And this edition of Motivational Monday is for those people who struggle with overcoming their fear demonstrated through one of the most powerful displays of courage I’ve ever seen!
Here’s the thing, all of us have dreams, all of us have hopes, and all of us have the desire to great things with our lives.
And even though that will change as we step into each of our successive roles along our journey and path to the success we are creating, the fact remains that each time we step up to a new level that is anywhere outside our comfort zone, we will experience fear. It’s just how human beings are wired because our minds our trying to “protect us” from things we perceive as a threat to our survival.
If we fail will we be outcasted? If we are outcasted how will we survive? Will people still love me if I fail? Etc… These types of thoughts come up without exception and it’s actually a VERY good indication that you are GROWING!
It’s a primal thing hard wired into us and it’s something that MUST be faced.
But here’s the main point I want to make in this edition of Motivational Monday that I want everyone to understand.
We all DO have dreams but the majority of people keep them safely tucked away in an impenetrable vault in their mind, heart, and soul.
They NEVER let them blossom and expand into a reality because they know that, at least tucked away in that safe place in your mind, their dream is safe.
Because the second you expose it, it becomes subject to all the things that give rise to that fear.
Rejection…
Criticism…
Humiliation…
Success…
Failure…
Responsibility…
And the list goes on and on.
But when you see it in action, and watch it be overcome in real time by a young boy in front of millions of people on TV who are there to judge, criticize, and critique him and a live audience of people waiting for him to impress them, and 4 very successful people actively judging him who have his fate in their hands, it kind of puts it into a perspective that it’s just a simple choice.
Feel the fear, face the fear, acknowledge the fear and do it ANYWAY!
Or option 2…
Feel the fear, face the fear, acknowledge the fear and let it paralyze you to the point you quit.
It takes an unbelievable amount of courage to extract your dreams from the safe vault you’ve built in your mind and heart and expose them to the world but if you never get them out there, one thing is 100% certain, they will NEVER EVER come true.
Great job Malaki! You are a total rock star and we could all stand to use a lesson in courage from your passion, dedication to your dreams, and your courage to face your fear in front of millions of people!
You rock kiddo! 🙂
