This is just humbling…
I’m all about fast paced, high energy, heart pounding excitement in life but sometimes, taking the time to slow down, even if just for a moment, keeps it all in balance.
How much beauty do we miss in life because of our preconceived ideas about what we can find value in?
How many magical moments of clarity and joy do we let pass by instead of capturing them simply because we buy into a stereo type?
How many people do we dismiss just because they don’t fit the mold of what we each view individually as “normal”?
Watching this video had a powerful impact on my heart because this beautiful man was told he was “bad” and “evil” and “not part of the world” by staff at an institution that cared for him for 10 years.
But you can see and hear that he doesn’t WANT things to be easy. He doesn’t need people to care for him completely and he’s all about working hard to take care of himself so he can create a good life for himself.
Look at the awe inspiring talent he has! He sculpts these magnificent animals with exquisite details from clay with his bare hands. You can see muscle structure, skin characteristics, and even emotion in these beautiful creations that started off as nothing but a hunk of clay.
He finds immense joy through art and it creates magic in his heart. He may not be able to communicate with people in a way most people will accept and there is no doubt that he is rejected because of that from many angles.
But if you slow down and really look at what this man offers, you can see that he gives us his magical gift of infusing everything that brings him joy and love into those hunks of clay that, you can clearly see, when you look at the smile that lights up on his face when he’s making these sculptures.
The thoughts that come to my mind when I watch this is, our lives are nothing but hunks of clay and we are the artists. Do we pay enough attention to the finer details? Do we transfer all the love we have into the metaphorical sculptures we create? Do we stimulate our imaginations to create something we may have never thought possible to create and push the boundaries?
What will that hunk of clay look like at the end of our lives…?
It’s amazing what you can learn about yourself from the questions that come up from watching a 4 minute video of a person you don’t even know and the possibilities that exist for you when you become able to alter your perspectives about what “fits” into your life, both in business and in personal life!
