This weeks edition of Motivational Monday is more of an introspective look at ourselves.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and sort of forget what we’re doing and why we’re doing it sometimes.
We get into routines and set the “autopilot” button.
Routines are great and are very helpful to get things done but when they make us “lazy” it’s time to change them up. It’s time to remember the fire in our hearts and belly’s that drove us into action in the first place.
When routines get too routine, it’s time to remember the standards of excellence and achievement our visions were built with.
In other words, it’s time to be accountable for our results. There are many ways to do this and one of the many things I’ve found that is extremely helpful and powerful is taking time to pause, take a good honest look at what you’re doing, and give yourself an assessment.
- Are you doing what you promised others you’d do?
- Are you doing your best? (It doesn’t have to be perfect and some days and even some weeks you’ll have more to give than others, but in each moment are you giving your all and doing your best?)
- Are you owning up and taking accountability for the state of your health?
- How about your finances?
- What about the vibrancy of your relationships?
- And of course your work?
And the most important question of all…
Are you doing what you promised yourself you would do for YOU?
I know there are a lot of demands on all of us and sometimes we fall back a little. It’s normal and nothing to get down on yourself about. In fact, quite the opposite really.
If you have enough contrast to actually see that you are not moving in the right direction that means that you ARE moving and that you have drive. And that’s a step many people don’t even take.
Many people just turn into zombies and drones and just go through the motions day in and day out and sadly lose a day of their lives they will never get back each and every single day they live like this.
But people that are pushing and striving to extract the best of who they are to share with the world are LIVING each day giving them the opportunity to “get off course” because they are not bound by “going through the motions”.
Those types of people, people like you who read and watch things like Motivational Monday each week, create the motions not just go through them and, from time to time get off course.
That’s why this pause and assessment is such a great tool to use. It’s like a course correction to get you back on track so when you look in the mirror and ask the most important questions of all to the most important person in your life, you can answer with pride and confidence… YES!
Success is about many things but none more important than personal accountability and this short video is great reminder of that.
