Today’s unemployed millionaire show is on one of my all time favorite topics, leadership!
In fact, it’s a chapter title in my book, The Unemployed Millionaire called:
The Secret Character Traits of The Worlds Most Powerful People
I’m going to give you what that is in just a second but before I do, I want you to know that, once I learned this secret character trait of the worlds most powerful people, it became so obvious to me that I can literally tell within 5 minutes of meeting someone exactly what their future success will look like by asking them a very simple question:
I don’t ask them about their biggest success in life
I ask them to tell me about their biggest failure.
And what I’m looking for is to see if they take personal responsibility for the failure or do they shift blame? Was their biggest failure someone else’s fault?
And here’s the deal, if they don’t own up to it and just say you know what, I screwed up and did X wrong, I know they have a very small amount of personal power.
Here’s the reality of the situation, when you blame someone else, you’re rendering yourself powerless. When you shift personal responsibility to someone else you’re basically a spineless little wimp!
You’re saying let me be powerless.
So here’s the secret…
The secret character trait of the worlds most powerful people that create mega success is, 100% personal responsibility.
Personal power comes from personal responsibility. As soon as you take 100% personal responsibility for your success or your failure, you become a powerful person who shares a character trait with the world most powerful people!
It’s okay to say I did something great and I created success and feel proud of it and own that but here’s where you get really powerful. When you screw up, when you fail in life you own up to that as well. Because when you take personal responsibility for everything that happens in your life that is powerful and that’s exactly what creates powerful people!
You also have to look at all the little ways that you hold yourself powerless.
I used to use this ALL OF THE TIME! Not enough hours in the day… Seriously? Blame time for lack of success?
We all have the same amount of time in the day.
You’re going to have to catch yourself and make corrections by being very mindful so you can recognize that anytime you’re shifting blame to something other than you, that is making you powerless!
And listen, we all do it and here’s a great chance to be start practicing taking 100% personal responsibility right now by leaving me a comment and telling me some of the ways you’ve held yourself powerless in the past by blaming others?
