Why Do You Need to Call Yourself Out

I hate hypocrites. Especially “motivational speaker” types who don’t practice what they preach.

So today I’m calling one out. I don’t normally name names and I generally don’t want to start any public feuds. But with this one influencer in particular, I can’t just let his actions slide by without me publicly calling him out.

His name? Matt Morris

Yep. I’m calling myself out. For more than two years, I’ve been talking about writing my book on leadership. I keep saying I’m going to write it and I keep procrastinating.

It’s not like I’ve been just sitting on my ass doing nothing… I did update my 7 secrets book and took it from an 8200 word guide to a complete 30,000 book. I’ve created multiple products and will be rolling out some new products in the coming days and weeks. In the past couple years I’ve been to dozens of countries speaking and training so I’ve been busy.

But this book has been nagging at me now for years so it’s time to make a public declaration…

Today, I begin the process.

To be real open, I don’t even know where to start. I have the title and subtitle picked out. I have all the content either written or on video already so it’s just a matter of putting it all together in a format that will make the biggest impact.

I’m taking my own advice from an email I wrote the other day about what to do when you don’t know what to do…

You just start.

Hold on…

Okay, I just went and created a new notebook in Evernote. (where I do my writing) I created the first note – Introduction – and wrote the first sentence.

Progress.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.

Here’s my public declaration… I’m going to continue making progress on this book and have it done this year.

Now, here’s a question…

Where do you need to call yourself out?
